SECOSUD II – Workshop of presentation of mid-term results

SECOSUD II Project has organised a workshop to present the mid-term result of the activities, on September 27th. The workshop takes place in the framework of the Symposium on Biodiversity and Development, held by the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane – UEM Campus in Maputo, from the 26th to the 28th of September.

The Symposium, that will be held in conjunction with the X Scientific Conference of the UEM, aims to analyze and discuss themes of interest to biodiversity conservation in a context of rapid local, regional and global environmental and socio-economic changes, making then biodiversity visible. The Symposium is organized by the Department of Biology – Faculty of Science of the UEM with the support of the AICS-Italian Agency for International Cooperation, USAID and WWF.

In the context of the Biodiversity and Development Symposium, the mid-term results of the SECOSUD II project will be presented in a dedicated event, and in particular:

  • Management systems for fires and natural resources for transfrontier conservation areas
  • Platforms for sharing primary biodiversity data, and joint initiatives by universities and research centres for publishing data on the Global Biodiversity Information Facility portal
  • Data on land cover in Mozambique and its changes in the last fifteen years (2002-2017)
  • Preliminary studies on the incidence of parasitosis by Echinococcus spp. in the livestock – wildlife – human interface.
